Mystery At A Local Shopping Center-
Reg-N3KAS and Bob-K3DBD on assignment with Lu Ann Cahn of NBC-10, the "Investigators," June, 2008. The TV station was responding to dozens of viewers who complained that they could not open or lock their cars (or actuate any other functions with their vehicle's keyless functions such as the Panic Alarms) at a local national department store parking lot. The problem had been in evidence for several years. After exhausting every other technical resource, they were directed to the ARRL in hopes of locating someone with technical expertise in RF signal identification and tracking ability. The League gave Cahn Reg Leister's email address as PAARC's Public Information Officer. Reg in turn contacted Bob, PAARC's Sr. Technical Advisor and together they teamed up to solve the mystery. "Public Service events are an important facet of amateur radio. Our club banner states "Service Through Communications." These activities are a great way to hone our emergency preparedness skills when the time comes. Plus it also demonstrates to the public who and what amateur radio is. Shown here following this year's March of Dimes "March for Babies" event is (L-R) Brian-KB3MPX, Nate-N2ADD, Ed-K3BVQ, Reg-N3KAS & Frank- KB3JNG. Not present for photo was Phil-W3GT, Jim-KJ3P & Dave-KB3JKO. This was the 21st year that PAARC supported this charitable civic activity which originally was a 10 mile walk. It is now just 4.5 miles." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
