Learn about ARRL Field Day where you can make contacts across North America. You do not need a license to get on the air with us at our Get On The Air (GOTA) station. Amateur Radio is fun, entertaining, and educational, and it fits in perfectly with STEM studies. Visit our Field Day page for more information. View the event flyer. More to come!

What is it?
Field Day is an annual emergency preparedness exercise that allows ham radio operators to test their emergency skills. The event also serves to raise awareness about the Amateur Radio Service. The goal is to simulate emergency conditions by setting up “in the field” and operating amateur radio equipment while using emergency power in order to make contact with as many other Field Day stations as possible.

Who is invited?
Anyone and everyone, young and old, are encouraged to come visit PAARC at the Welkinweir Field Day site. If you’re an experienced operator and want to come help operate, please do! If you’re new to the hobby, or know nothing about it, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about it while seeing hams in action!

Amateur Radio at Exeter STEM Fair

Exeter Township School District hosted their annual “Spring in to STEM” fair on April 26, 2018. The purpose of the event is to engage students in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Club members Jon Durand, N8EUL, and Shawn Pauley, W3SMP, attended and hosted an Amateur Radio table. Youth-oriented handouts were made available, and they demonstrated how to receive weather images from NOAA satellites with a home made antenna and an SDR. They also fielded questions from the 700+ in attendance and encouraged those that expressed interest in the hobby to attend the upcoming events and meetings of both PAARC and the Reading Radio Club.
